Scripps Ranch Neighborhood

What became the neighborhood of Scripps Ranch was first established in 1890 when former newspaperman EW Scripps and his sister Ellen Browning Scripps purchased a 400 acre ranch along what is today called Pomerado Road. They later added another 1200 acres to their ranch.  When it was later sold, the neighborhood was subdivided into residential lots known for its rocky terrain with rolling hills, canyons and countryside views.  Tall eucalyptus trees are a prominent feature.

The Scripps Ranch neighborhood has a lot of natural beauty, open spaces set aside for parks, wildlife preservation and trails.  Located in the heart of the community Miramar Reservoir, a small lake surrounded by a near-perfect 5 mile loop which is popular with joggers, bicyclists, and roller bladers.  Boats (canoes and rowboats) are available for rent, and the lake is loaded with bass, trout and catfish.
