One of the traditionally upscale Rancho Santa Fe neighborhoods, outside of The Covenant, development in Rancho Del Rio began in the 1960’s and continued through the 1980’s.  Many of the Rancho Del Rio houses have been extensively remodeled or completely rebuilt since that time. There are seventy one homes in the area, with floor plans ranging from 2,500 to 4,500 square feet.  The neighborhood is zoned for horses, and many of the homes have equestrian facilities.

The upscale flavor of the community is maintained by the large lot sizes, which each cover one to three acres. This is a lovely rural environment, just west of The Crosby Estates.  The houses were built in various styles over time, with a mix of Contemporary, Tuscan, Cape Cod, and Mediterranean architecture. Properties in the area have breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and hills, with many overlooking The Crosby golf course and east over Santaluz. Citrus groves and mature trees are prominent features of the landscape in the area.

The Del Dios Highway provides convenient access west to Solana Beach and Del Mar.  The Village of Rancho Santa Fe is about two miles to the southwest of the neighborhood.

    A modest homeowner’s association fee of around $20 per month is paid for common area maintenance.  Otherwise there are no shared community amenities.  However, most of the homes in the neighborhood have their own pools and spas, tennis courts and the like.

    Children in the neighborhood attend Solana Santa Fe for elementary school, then transition into the San Dieguito High School District (Earl Warren Middle and Torrey Pines High).  These are some of the best schools in San Diego County.  With great schools, a pristine environment, and terrific weather year-round, Rancho Del Rio is a wonderful place to live!
