Sorrento Valley Real Estate
Sorrento Valley real estate has great appeal to many professionals who work in the San Diego biotech community and at Qualcomm or the ancillary Qualcomm businesses. Sorrento Valley is located just East of La Jolla and South of University City. Many people who live in Sorrento Valley homes ride bikes or walk to Qualcomm or UCSD for work. Sorrento Valley real estate appeals to tudents and professors at University of California, any anyone who wants an easy commute to downtown San Diego.
There are two main neighborhoods of homes in Sorrento Valley. Detached houses are found at Pacific Ridge along Sorrento Valley Boulevard. These are three and four bedroom homes ranging from 2,500 to around 3,000 square feet of living area. The Pacific Ridge houses were built in the late 1990’s, and many are canyon view homes.
Town homes in Sorrento Valley are in the Wateridge town home complex, on Wateridge Circle off of Lusk Boulevard. This is a very nice neighborhood, and often overlooked because it is somewhat off the beaten path to anyone who doesn’t work in the Qualcomm business community.
A newer development of Sorrento Valley houses was recently built by architect Rob Quigley, the architect who also designed the San Diego public library. These Rob Quigley homes are in the Shaw Lopez neighborhood, on Shaw Lopez Row Road south of Sorrento Valley Boulevard. The Shaw Lopez homes are strikingly modern, with large living areas of around 4,000 square feet.
Many think of Sorrento Valley real estate as mainly commercial, but the homes here are quite nice, and convenient to downtown San Diego, La Jolla, and the beach neighborhoods. One drawback is that there are very few shops and restaurants in Sorrento Valley, so residents of the community drive up the hill to Mira Mesa or north to University City for most of their needs. Children attend schools in Mira Mesa, part of the San Diego Unified School District.
