Torrey Highlands is one of the best places to live in San Diego.  For clean and modern newer homes in North San Diego, Torrey Highlands real estate is a clear front runner.  The Highway 56 Corridor has become a preferred location for working professionals and families seeking a convenient San Diego location and an upscale neighborhood.

Torrey Highlands homes are more affordable than the similar neighborhoods further West in Carmel Valley.  The community offers a variety of home styles, ranging from condos and townhomes, entry level houses, larger executive houses, and upscale luxury homes.  The neighborhoods are located in zip codes 92130, 92129, and 92127, as Torrey Highlands is nestled between Carmel Valley, Rancho Penasquitos, and Rancho Bernardo.  To learn more about Torrey Highlands real estate Click Here.

The top-rated Poway Unified schools that serve the Torrey Highlands neighborhoods serve as a big incentive for many home buyers.  Westview High School serves the entire area, including Northwest Rancho Penasquitos and the East side of Carmel Valley.  Which elementary or middle school assigned to homes in Torrey Highlands depends upon the home address.  Some children attend Willow Grove Elementary in Rancho Bernardo followed by Black Mountain Middle School in Rancho Penasquitos.  Other children attend Deer Canyon Elementary and Mesa Verde Middle School in Rancho Penasquitos.  All of the public schools have excellent reputations among the best schools in the Poway Unified School District, so you really can’t go wrong. There are also several private schools in the area including Cathedral Catholic High School and the San Diego Jewish Academy in Carmel Valley, as well as the Diegueno Country School and Horizon Prep School nearby in Rancho Santa Fe.

Torrey Highlands Shopping and Restaurants

If you’re considering buying or renting real estate along the 56 Corridor in Carmel Valley, Rancho Penasquitos, or Rancho Bernardo’s Santaluz or Del Sur neighborhoods, here is an overview of the shopping, services, and restaurants serving Torrey Highlands:

There are a wide variety of services, shops, and restaurants near Torrey Highlands.  The nearest shopping center is the Torrey Highlands Center.  But it’s only a short drive to Carmel Valley’s Piazza Shopping Center or to the Del Mar Highlands Town Center.  And it’s also a short drive up Camino Del Sur to the shopping center and restaurants in 4-S Ranch, Rancho Bernardo.

The Torrey Highlands Center is a shopping plaza anchored by an Albertson’s grocery store, which has an in-store branch of U.S. Bank.  The Albertson’s store is clean and well organized, in my opinion one of the better grocery stores in San Diego.  It is the main grocery shopping, dining, and services destination for all of the homes at Torrey Highlands.

Restaurants at the Torrey Highlands Center range from casual to semi-formal. Vittorio’s restaurant has a pleasant upscale atmosphere, with fine Italian cuisine at moderate prices.  Vittorio’s has a great happy hour, and is usually sends two-for-one entrée coupons in the local mail.  It also has the only full-service bar that is currently located in Torrey Highlands.

Other Torrey Highlands restaurants include the recently opened Pizza Rev, which has some very tasty thin-crust European style pizzas that are made to order.  The Luna Grill offers café-style Mediterranean cuisine including souvlaki, gyro platters, chicken and salads.  Then there are the larger chain restaurants such as Rubios, the San Diego style Mexican restaurant with burritos and fish tacos, and also Pick-Up Stix for the quick Chinese meal.

There are more homes being built in Torrey Highlands, with the development of Rhodes Crossing just South of Highway 56, as discussed in my recent San Diego real estate blog post.  The neighborhood will soon connect through Rhodes Crossing to the West side of Rancho Penasquitos, which will also give many PQ residents better access to the 56.
