Evidence Found? Leave it to Fox News to come up with a report like this. I think I'll go take a shower.
How can anyone think that $1Billion or $2Billion worth of loans to minorities was the root cause of the economic meltdown? As President Obama said before being bashed by the Fox News narrator (Was that Pat O'Reilly's voice), making loans to low income families who couldn't otherwise get loans was originally a good thing. But when the banks and mortgage brokers got a taste for for the easy money that came from writing subprime loans, the numbers grew exponentially. "Creative financing" mixed with "creative accounting" became the leading flavor of KoolAid.
To move beyond the conservative pundit line and learn the true nature of the beast, read The Two TRILLION Dollar Meltdown. (That's Two Thousand Billion, by the way) The chapter excerpts on Google Books are sufficient to get the gist of the story. It explains the facts much better than I could hope to do. And if it's good enough for the Wall Street Journal, it's good enough for any conservative who wants to learn and understand the truth.

The point was that our government spent trillions of our dollars to “stimulate” the economy that has been spent has very little to do with the Wall Street collapse. The far left has seized the moment to repay political favors and cut sweet heart deals for supporters and contributors at OUR expense!

Almost nothing has been done to fix the problem that started all of this in the first place…. Housing.

I agree with you that wrapping these mortgages up into enormous negotiable instruments was a mistake driven by greed and should have been closer regulated. However the concept of spreading risks over a broader area did make sense at the time. You obviously did not read the articles linked in my post or you would know that President Bush made several attempts to urge congress to pass legislation to prevent what happened last year only to be thwarted by the likes of Barney Franks and Sam Dodd.

I realize the tactic of choice by liberals is that if you say it loud enough and often enough that people will believe anything, but on this issue the facts and paper trail will not support you. This one is definitely on the shoulders of the Democrats.

But enough of history. We need real world solutions to the economic crisis we are facing (still) and I have posted several suggestions on my Las Vegas Real Estate Blog that will work and will NOT cost the tax payer a penny.
